About Me

My name is Katie Findlay. I have loved the outdoors for as long as I can remember. I was always the odd one out in my family because I actually enjoyed our camping trips. My dad and I spent much of my childhood hiking, backpacking, 4-wheeling,and going on fishing trips. Though I didn't know it then, these experiences undoubtedly influenced my career aspirations. When I found myself in college, I tried out many majors that just never seemed to fit. It wasn't until I took a family vacation to several national parks that I considered a career in the outdoors. I never even knew that was an option. Choosing to major in Outdoor Recreation in Parks and Tourism was the easiest decision I ever made. I am extremely grateful for a dad that introduced me to nature at a young age and who taught me to appreciate recreating.

Since that decision, my experiences in academics as well as in the industry have only increased my enthusiasm for the outdoors. The more I learn, the more excited I get to be a part of an industry that will affect the lives of so many. Human life, wildlife, and plant life. Being in a field where the learning never stops is challenging but also incredibly rewarding. I look forward to applying my education and experiences in a fulfilling career after graduation in May of 2017.
